LCM-Pastor Bolivar Ruiz
Luis Bolivar, after he came out of jail, attended Baptist seminary in Quito. He has since worked for the Bible Society selling Christian materials in Colombia and Ecuador until the man in Medellin robbed him of payment. He has since been trying to earn enough money to pay them back. He worked at a church in Atontaqui (outside of Ibarra) for about a year while the missionary pastor went on furlough to Australia. While there the church grew dramatically. Yoli, Luis’ wife, is nothing but sweetness and light and he is a charming, happy, easygoing man. They are the parents of 2 daughters.
He has grown the church in Pichiycua to a steady 70-80 people on a Sunday. His schedule during the week is the following: Monday, lazy day. Tuesday he has a cell meeting in Pichiyacu Negro; Wednesday he has a cell meeting in Pichiyacu; Thursday he has leadership training in the ministry house; Friday he meets with a cell in El Eden; Saturday he meets with the youth and Sunday he has Sunday School as well as a regular church service. He does this in addition to his regular daily duties in the community and in his home. |
